USDA projects wheat crop of 423.2 million bushels

WICHITA -- A bountiful harvest of winter wheat is filling grain
elevators across Kansas -- a projected 423.2 million bushels, far
more grain than even government statisticians had predicted only a
month ago.
That projection from the heart of winter wheat country, coupled
with good crops elsewhere in the nation, prompted the U.S. Department
of Agriculture on Monday to lower its projected prices for wheat by
15 cents per bushel.
