LAWRENCE -- John P. Jennings, 74, Lawrence, died Monday, April 19,
1999, at a Lawrence hospital.
Mr. Jennings worked in the investment business in Kansas City and
Wichita. He became president of an oil and gas exploration company
in 1967 and by 1975 the company was the largest independent in
Kansas. He found a large gas field five miles east of Lawrence in
the 1980s, as well as several substantial oil fields west of
Leavenworth. He also discovered the methane gas field in Montgomery
