Rosalie Byers, 89, of Topeka, had lived a long and productive
life. So when she was told last fall that her breast cancer had
returned and was spreading through her body, she decided to face
reality.
"You have to die sometime," she said.
Although she relinquished herself to the fact that she was going
to die, Rosalie still wanted to control how she died. She wanted to
be at home. She wanted to be pain-free. She wanted her loved ones
around.
