Laurie Schmelzle sells chinchillas over the Internet from her home in rural Seneca. All animals sold on Chinchillas.com are shipped from Ohio, where Schmelzle's business partner maintains a herd of about 2,000 chinchillas. Sales are handled through the business's Web site, below, which can be run from a data port anywhere in the world.

This female black velvet chinchilla was used to breed for Chinchillas.com. Now past the prime breeding age, she likely will be paired with another chinchilla and sold as a pet.
