Draper acquires LDS cemetery
|
DRAPER -- A historic Mormon pioneer cemetery switched owners
Tuesday night.
After unanimous City Council approval, Draper Cemetery, one of the
last remaining graveyards owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, is now under ownership of the south Salt Lake
Valley city.
"One of the things I've felt very strongly about is maintaining
the history of our community. I can't think of a better way than
taking over the cemetery and honoring the people who built our
community," Councilman Pete Larkin said.
The 2.7-acre site is a resting place to Draper's founding father,
