Pol Pot Reportedly Sighted In Custody of Ex-Followers

Appearing exhausted and ill, Khmer Rouge guerrilla leader Pol
Pot was carried into a jungle base today by former followers who
pledged to cut their ties with him and support the Cambodian
constitution, a senior army general said.
Deputy army chief of staff Nhek Bun Chhay said he had been
negotiating with the Khmer Rouge defectors at their northern
Cambodian stronghold of Anlong Veng when he saw Pol Pot and his
ailing chief deputy, Nuon Chea, after they were captured on a nearby
jungle hilltop and carried in hammocks to the base. It was a rare
