Anne Bancroft a great talent
|
It would be nice to write a eulogy for Anne Bancroft without
mentioning her role as the lusty Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate." It
could be easily done. Bancroft's career was one of accomplishment and
class. But, alas, the world chooses what it will remember, and
Bancroft lived her life in the shadow of a 1967 character she'd
created. Mrs. Robinson was her personal ghost.
Bancroft died of uterine cancer at age 73 earlier this week.
