CONCORD, N.H. -- My standing mixer is my new hero.
Mind you, I've long loved that monster of a machine. I'm always a
little awed and a lot thankful for the ease with which it kneads
dough, the speed with which it whisks egg whites to perfect peaks and
the oomph with which it makes the most luscious mashed potatoes.
