Sweden's Prince Bertil, 84, who kept his romance with a
divorced actress secret for 33 years to avoid a scandal, died Jan. 5
at his home. He had heart and lung ailments.
Prince Bertil, an uncle of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and
the son of King Gustaf VI Adolf, who died in 1973, was fourth in
line to the throne. Regarded as the grand old man of the royal
family, he was immensely popular in Sweden.
