On the morning of August 15, 2003, a grand chapter of history passed from this mortal existence into eternity in the form of George William Marquardt, Major USAAF.

George was born July 14, 1919 in Princeton, KY the son of Dr. Monroe Morse and Mabel Vera Boos Marquardt. Reared during the Great Depression in the small Ohio River community of Golconda, IL, he became a star player on his high school basketball team and received a scholarship to attend Illinois Wesleyan University.
