Goats employed for fire control found to be in 'horrid condition'

After a visit to the Web site of Sustainable Solutions, a firm
that hires out goats to devour weeds and underbrush, viewers are
bound to leave impressed by the firm's commitment to ecologically-
sound land management and animal husbandry.
A visit to its herd of goats, however, tells a different story.
On Aug. 26, two officers from the Peninsula Humane Society found
61 of the company's goats in what one officer called "horrid
condition."A horseback rider discovered the gaunt animals, where
they'd been huddled for two days in cramped pens without food and
