'Plein air' art event to open in Alameda
|
ALAMEDA -- With paint strokes and works, the first "Jewel by the
Bay" event in Alameda will celebrate the arts, the city's charming
neighborhoods and the waterfront, starting today.
A "plein air" painting competition with 40 selected artists from
the state and a few from out-of-state will kick off the five-day
event when Alameda's tree-lined streets, Victorians, historic
architecture, parks, shopping areas, lagoons, estuary, harbors, San
Francisco Bay views and more will take various shapes and colors on
canvases.
The event, also known as a "plein air" invitational, is a
prestigious activity ...
