San Carlos, Menlo Park deal OK'd

SAN CARLOS -- Before the year is out, emergency calls made in San
Carlos will be answered by Menlo Park police dispatchers.
On Monday, the San Carlos City Council voted 4-0 to sign a five-
year contract with the Menlo Park Police Department in an effort to
save $244,910 a year.
Councilwoman Inge Tiegel Doherty was absent.
It's one of many cost-cutting moves council members are making as
the city struggles with a $2.5 million budget deficit.
The merger of the two cities' dispatch centers is expected to
happen in five months. San Carlos is following the lead of four other
police departments ...
