Dynes faces uncertain future

SAN FRANCISCO -- With a chorus of angry voices demanding his
resignation, University of California President Robert Dynes on
Wednesday acknowledged that administrators have exhibited a nearly
paranoid -- and sometimes intentional -- obsession with secrecy and
vowed to force a "sea change" in university operations.
Still, Dynes' future with the university remained cloudy, with the
chairman of the university's governing Board of Regents emerging from
a two-hour closed-door session with Dynes and saying only that
officials would make an announcement today regarding UC's leadership.
