President Clinton and His Royal Highness King Bhumibol
Adulyadej, Maharaj of Thailand, both play jazz, encourage the arts
and have recently been celebrated with great hoopla.
Clinton is the first Democrat elected to a second term in the
White House since Franklin Delano Roosevelt was, more than 50 years
ago. Bhumibol, on the other hand, is the first Thai king to reign
for 50 years, and the golden jubilee of his accession to the throne
has been underway for more than a year.
