Last year, Decca sold a half-million copies of Cecilia Bartoli's
new CD.
This was not some schlocky crossover venture: It was a disc of
arias from forgotten operas by Vivaldi that no one had ever recorded
before.
Bartoli has steadfastly followed her instincts; because she trusts
herself, the public trusts her, and has followed wherever she wants
to go.
Decca and Bartoli, now 35 and in her glorious prime, have followed
up the Vivaldi CD with "Dreams and Fables," a second disc of mostly
