Openly Latina: Welch exits closet for PBS drama

Pasadena, Calif. -- Si, she's a Latina. And Raquel Welch will play
one on PBS' "American Family," a new drama scheduled for January.
"I've made it a point to be in the closet as a Latina or a
Hispanic for many years, because it was a disadvantage to be in the
entertainment community and advertise that you were Latin," the
veteran movie actress said at a PBS preview session for critics here
