N.Y. state officials are trying to figure out outbreak along Lake Erie

Hamburg, N.Y. -- An estimated 8,000 water birds, including as many as 1,000 common loons, have now fallen victim to a puzzling outbreak of botulism along Lake Erie, state environmental officials said.
