If you're searching for an example of survival skills, you need look no further than the Walker's Point Center for the Arts, 911 W. National Ave.

This spunky, offbeat spot -- which has been on the brink of collapse more than once but has always been rescued by its loyal friends -- specializes in polar extremes: art classes for children of the neighborhood and avant-garde art exhibits.
