`Night Music': Beautiful But Dutiful

The Signature Theatre production of "A Little Night Music" that opened Monday is pretty, respectful and staid. Designer Lou Stancari's wide set of white marble balustrades and urns, with its cold symmetry and visual reference to monuments, establishes the stodgy tone. Everyone involved seems to have been nervously aware that they were working on A Great Musical.
