`Trek' boldly ventures back into comic books DC-owned WildStorm takes a turn at creating stories for Paramount franchise

After an absence of more than a year, "Star Trek" is beaming back into comic shops.

Over the years, the franchise has bounced from company to company. Now "Star Trek" has a new home: WildStorm Productions.

WildStorm founder Jim Lee had made a pitch to Paramount, the studio that controls the "Star Trek" franchise for the license, but the company went with DC instead, said Jeff Mariotte, editor of the new "Trek" line. But when DC bought WildStorm last year, it farmed out the "Trek" line to WildStorm.
