Congregational members share ideas Church identity, future being examined during symposium in Wauwatosa

More than 180 people gathered in Wauwatosa this week for what is being billed as the first of its kind nationwide meeting of members of the Congregational Church.

"A Past with a Future: Continuing Congregationalism into the Next Millennium," a symposium that began Thursday, is an opportunity for congregationalists to reflect on their identity, said the Rev. Steven A. Peay, a teaching minister at First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa, which is hosting the event.

"Some people say, `Well you're not part of the Catholic church, you're little loners over there,' but we're not," Peay said. ...
