BASEBALL NOTES Hunter battles illness Yankees great diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease

Hall of Fame pitcher Jim "Catfish" Hunter has Lou Gehrig's Disease
and will begin treatment for the fatal illness this week, his wife
said Monday.
Helen Hunter said doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore
confirmed last Friday that her husband has the disease, also known
as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Hunter entered the hospital after
experiencing difficulties with motor skills.
