A judge Thursday refused to remove a special prosecutor from a case in which District Attorney Paul Bucher was a crime victim and took Bucher to task for not withdrawing his office from the case earlier.

Waukesha County Circuit Judge Lee S. Dreyfus Jr. said that Bucher's appointment of a special prosecutor was the right move one that should have been made before a defense attorney accused Bucher of having a conflict of interest in the case.
