Hovering in an uncharted mist between medieval superstition and modern piety, apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary are being reported with increasing frequency as the new millennium approaches. Some devoted followers of the late Mary Ann Van Hoof, whose reputed visits from the Virgin Mary once drew a crowd of 100,000 people, are expected to come Thursday to Necedah for the 48th anniversary of the first outdoor apparition there.
