New Hall takes golf history into penthouse St. Augustine facility will be house of high-tech; HALL OF FAME FACTS Hall of Fame: The 75,000-square-foot centerpiece of the village includes shrine of 73 players and 18 exhibits that trace the game to its Scottish roots. IMAX Theater: Screen measuring 80 feet wide and 60 feet high. Walk of Champions: Links every component of the village and contains signature of Hall of Fame members on granite slabs. Lessons: A PGA Tour-sanctioned golf academy, sessions ranging from one week to one hour. Practice: Putting course on 18 greens, and a par-3 challenge hole patterned after the island-green 17th hole of the Stadium Course. Play: The Slammer & the Squire, an 18-hole course designed by Bobby Weed with input from Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead. Five sets of tees, measuring 6,940 yards (par 72) from the tips. Stay: The largest combination hotel and convention center between Orlando and Atlanta. The hotel is a 10-story atrium with 300 rooms. The convention center has 80,000 square feet of meeting space. Shop: More than 100,000 square feet of shops, galleries, restaurants and boutiques. Fees: Hall of Fame, $9 for adults, $4 for children (ages 5-12). IMAX Theater, $6 for adults, $3.50 for children. Slammer & Squire, $95 to $135 (cart included), depending on season. Challenge hole, $5. Putting course, $5. Location: About 25 miles south of Jacksonville off Interstate 95.

never turned very quickly at golf's Hall of Fame.
Located for 20 years off the beaten path in the golf mecca of
Pinehurst, N.C., it wasn't even the prime attraction. Fans didn't
make a pilgrimage to Pinehurst to see Nicklaus, Hogan and Jones.
They went there to play golf.
So, golf did what any weekend players would do when their first
shot strays into the woods: It took a mulligan.
