Some Nat King Cole fans with long memories believe that the late singer's best days came before he started churning out hit ballads standing in front of every studio string player west of the Rockies. In his early years fronting the King Cole trio, Nat played some of the world's best jazz piano around his tasty swing vocals.

If that's the King you mourn, the Red Mill East through Saturday is offering a reasonable facsimile. Cole died at 45 in 1965, but his records still sell.
