Violinist Earl Carlyss, for 20 years a member of the Juilliard
String Quartet, is a mentor in the grand tradition. He continues to
divide his colossal range of commitments between performance and
teaching at the Juilliard School, the Peabody Conservatory and the
Aspen Center for Advanced Quartet Studies. Pianist Ann Schein,
Carlyss's wife, began her brilliant career here in her native
Washington and is on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory and
Aspen Music Festival.
