Hepatitis-fighting drug in short supply Delayed production, recall create acute shortage of immune globulin

The primary drug used to fight hepatitis A and some immune
disorders is in short supply and could soon be depleted nationwide,
according to a warning sent to state public health officials.
Immune globulin given by injection has been in short supply for
about two years and that shortage could become even more acute
within the next two months because of delayed production by its
primary manufacturer, Michigan Biologics Products Institute, the
memo says. Immune globulin is made up of antibodies separated from
blood.
