Hinkley taking his seat among radio's select; Hear all about the Hall of Fame Tonight's Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony, hosted by CBS' Charles Osgood, will be broadcast live on 65 stations across the United States, including WTMJ-AM (620). The hourlong ceremony begins at 8 p.m., and features the induction of five new members: Gordon Hinkley. ABC News' Chris Bury will introduce WTMJ's Hinkley for induction into the Hall of Fame. Bury once worked at WTMJ-TV (Channel 4). Lynne "Angel" Harvey. The producer of ABC's nationally syndicated "Paul Harvey News" is also Harvey's wife. She'll be introduced by ABC Radio President Robert Callahan. Karl Haas. He's been hosting "Adventures in Good Music," a classical music show, for more than 30 years, offering commentaries on classical music without a script. He'll be introduced by flutist James Galway. The late Murray "the K" Kaufman. He was dubbed the "fifth" Beatle after the group's first U.S. tour, when he was New York's top disc jockey at WINS radio. He even broadcast from their hotel rooms. He'll be introduced by Casey Kasem. The late William Conrad. Television's "Cannon" began his career as a radio announcer in the 1930s and played Matt Dillon on the radio version of "Gunsmoke" from 1952 to 1961. He'll be introduced by June Lockhart.

Gordon Hinkley jokes that when he formally enters the national
Radio Hall of Fame tonight in Chicago, he'll be permanently situated
between Paul Harvey and Bob Hope.
Actually, it's not a joke. Alphabetical order aside, Harvey and
Hope are just two of 86 names on the radio industry's most select
list.
In being added to that list, Hinkley is being recognized by his
peers, some 6,000 radio executives, academicians and members of the
Museum of Broadcast Communications from across the country, for a
broadcasting career that began when he was 15.
