Carlos Palenque, Bolivian politician

Carlos Palenque, a millionaire presidential candidate who used his
populist television and radio station to garner support among the
poor, died Saturday of a heart attack. He was 53.
Palenque, who was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after taking ill
at his home, died later at a La Paz clinic, family members said.
Before entering public life in the 1970s, Palenque was a singer in
the Bolivian folk group Los Caminantes and later a host of variety
programs on radio and television.
He went on to head the opposition Conscience of Nationhood Party,
