Constantine Karamanlis, 91, a former president and prime
minister of Greece who was revered for helping to restore his
country's democracy after military dictatorships, died of a viral
infection April 22 at a hospital here.
He also had a kidney ailment and had been hospitalized since
April 12, when he had a heart attack.
His health had been in decline since he retired in 1995 after
his second term as president, ending a 60-year political career that
included six premiers...
