Israeli army units took up battle positions Tuesday in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, fearing a renewed outbreak of violence if the summit between Benjamin Netanyahu and Yasser Arafat fails.

The army moved more troops and heavy weaponry, including tanks, Cobra helicopters and sniper squads, into the West Bank and Gaza, a military source said on condition of anonymity.
