Citibank Offers Break on New Fee Structure

Citibank said yesterday that it is temporarily offering an alternative to its new checking-account fee structure, which had drawn criticism from some customers.

The fee structure requires a minimum balance of $7,500 to avoid checking fees, but it allows all of a customer's Citibank balances -- including savings accounts, investments and credit cards -- to count toward that minimum.
