The WIAA Board of Control dropped a bombshell Friday over the issue of realigning schools in southeastern Wisconsin.

By an 8-2 vote, the board gave preliminary approval to a plan that would place Milwaukee Pius and Mukwonago in a seven-team conference with schools from Racine and Kenosha.
