EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION Lincoln documents coming for Juneteenth
|
For more than a century, President Abraham Lincoln has worn the
mantle of "The Great Emancipator," the man who ended slavery in
America. Now the actual documents he signed to earn that title will
be coming to Milwaukee in an unprecedented exhibit.
The original Emancipation Proclamation, signed by Lincoln, will be
the focal point of the exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum called
"Oh, Freedom," which recognizes the 25th anniversary of Juneteenth
Day in Milwaukee.
