Are the city workers in your community going to get a paid holiday? Here's a look at how Milwaukee County municipalities are handling Good Friday. In all cases, the police and fire departments are staffed, but in most communities firefighters and police officers earn holiday pay while on duty. Bayside: Village offices and the Public Works Department are closed all day. All employees get paid for a full holiday. Brown Deer: Village Hall, Public Works Department and library closed all day. Paid holiday for all employees. Cudahy: City Hall, Public Works Department and library are closed all day. Paid holiday for all employees. Fox Point: Village Hall is open from 8 a.m. to noon. Today is a paid half-day holiday for all village employees. Franklin: City Hall and other departments are closed all day. Paid holiday for all employees. Glendale: City Hall and other departments closed all day. Paid holiday for all employees. North Shore Library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Greendale: Village Hall closes at noon today. A regular work day for all city employees. West Milwaukee: Village offices are open and clerical staff is working. Public works employees are only ones who receive paid holiday. Good Friday may soon become another day of toil for municipal workers who have traditionally enjoyed a paid holiday on the observance of Christ's death.

Municipal officials throughout the state plan to review their practices of closing their offices on Good Friday. The action is in response to a federal judge's ruling that found the state's law covering the religious holiday was unconstitutional.
