Mequon firm selected for federal project Frontier Technologies will provide software for Internet connection; How the Frontier system would work Frontier Technologies Corp. has been selected by the federal General Services Administration to develop a pilot project for secure Internet transactions between citizens and the government. Here's how it would work: Users must have a computer equipped with a modem and Internet access. They also will need a copy of Frontier's browser software and a security "key" or floppy disk that would be plugged into a drive on the PC. Like an electronic signature, it would be different for every person. Once a link is established with the government, Frontier's SuperWeb Server will verify the signature of the user. The government agency would take action over the Internet allowing a user to check on Social Security benefits or receive an IRS refund check, for example.
