American Ballet Theatre dug into its attic to put together a
program of works by early-20th-century choreographer Michel Fokine
last weekend at the Kennedy Center Opera House. Pulling long-
neglected ballets out of storage is no easy task -- Fokine's deep
expressiveness and fluidity are no longer in vogue -- and Friday's
uneven performance bore moments of strain.
"Les Sylphides" dragged, while "Polovtsian Dances" was pushed too
