An astronomically tough decision; Bids for Yerkes Observatory vary by millions, impact on land

Williams Bay At this pivotal point in its existence, dollar signs
have become more important than stars in the galaxy of Yerkes
Observatory.
Two bidders have submitted proposals to buy the astronomical
outpost and nearly 79 acres of woodlands that surround it on a Geneva
Lake bay.
Aurora University, which has a campus neighboring the observatory,
has offered $4.5 million and a pledge to maintain the facility for
science education.
