Canada goose season closed yesterday in Virginia and concludes this weekend in western portions of Maryland, but hunters still have a whole month left to chase geese in both states: snow geese, that is. All I can say is, good luck.

Snows have a reputation as the most difficult and unpredictable waterfowl to hunt. They've earned it. They're wonderful to watch in flight and fun to listen to but the flocks get bigger and bigger every year because they remain so difficult to fool.
