Saks reportedly rejects Bon-Ton offer for Boston Store, Younkers group; Division could be sold in smaller clusters

An offer from Bon-Ton Stores Inc. to buy Saks Inc.'s Northern
Department Store Group, which includes Boston Store and Younkers, has
been turned down, according to a trade publication report.
The report speculated that the Milwaukee-based group will be sold
in smaller clusters or even store by store.
"I think they're going to have to do what they did with
Proffitt's," said Robert Page, a retail analyst with Zacks Investment
