MPS loses big in open enrollment; $32 million in state aid goes with students to suburban schools

Most school districts in metropolitan Milwaukee have added
students and some have collected millions of dollars in additional
state aid as a result of the state's open enrollment program, a
Journal Sentinel analysis shows.
The gains have come largely at the expense of the Milwaukee Public
Schools, as an increasing number of its students use open enrollment
to transfer to other districts.
