Doyle's veto deemed lawful; GOP lawsuit would fail, attorney general says

Madison A budget veto by Gov. Jim Doyle that gave his top deputy
broad authority to move money between state funds appears to have
been lawful, Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager said Friday.
Although her advisory legal opinion does not have the force of
law, it means she thinks Republican legislators would lose any court
test over Doyle's vetoes of the GOP state budget.
