Homeownership squared; UCC, with city help, is boosting numbers in Walker Square area

In the south side neighborhood surrounding Walker Square, everyone
knows Fernando Campos.
"Wherever I go El Rey, the Square, even a bar people will say,
This is the man who helped me buy my house,' " Campos, 47, said with
a broad grin. "Sometimes they buy me a beer."
Campos has spent almost a decade helping Hispanic families to
pursue the dream of homeownership.
He is the neighborhood development coordinator for the Centro de
la Comunidad/United Community Center.
