For 30 years, he was America's favorite living-room guest
In a very real sense, Johnny Carson left us more than a dozen
years ago when he wrapped up his three-decade run on NBC's "Tonight
Show."
It was a very private life that ended quietly Sunday, when the 79-
year-old Carson died at his Malibu, Calif., home. His family did not
disclose details, but NBC said he died of emphysema.
His family said there would be no memorial service. But for 55
million TV viewers, Johnny Carson's memorial service aired May 22,
