Sauk City woman takes injured birds under her wing, returns them
to the wild
After rehabilitating 118 species of birds, Linda Bethke still
believes that every bird deserves a chance to live free.
Bethke started saving birds in 1990 and became a federally
licensed migratory bird specialist in 1992. She lives in the Sauk
County village of Sauk City, two blocks west of the Wisconsin River,
where she cares for migratory birds in homemade cages in her
