Commerce secretary to return to law firm

Madison State Commerce Secretary Cory Nettles said Friday he will leave the department at the end of the month for a job in the private sector, a disappointing blow to leaders from both the African- American and business communities.

Nettles, 34, will become a partner in the Milwaukee office of law firm Quarles & Brady, returning to the place where he worked when Gov. Jim Doyle tapped him to be commerce secretary, a job that pays $108,914 a year.
