Inquest into suffocation death called a 'waste'
Family's lawyer in Mequon case urges changes to process
The attorney for the family of Matthew Sheridan, the 20-year-old
who died in Mequon police custody, called this week's inquest into
the death a "waste of taxpayer money" because officers were not asked
tough, probing questions that might have altered the jury's decision.
Merrick Domnitz, the Sheridan family lawyer, also called Thursday
for major changes to the inquest process. He said the system is
unfair -- especially in cases involving deaths in police custody --
