Ballet's anti-war dance has stark force

The elemental power of "The Green Table," Kurt Jooss' anti-war dance from 1932, retained its force in Thursday night's performance by the Milwaukee Ballet.

The dancers, coached by Jooss' daughter, Anna Markard, understood the weighty, into-the-floor, tightly bound style, its stark, flickering aspect of silent film and poster-art posing.
